Oakdale, NY - The race to the finish is getting interesting in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series - as drivers prepare for AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Sunday, November 3rd at 2pm. The AAA Texas 500 is the eighth race in the 10-event Chase for the Sprint Cup. Nascar tickets at Ticket Raven.
The difference with this year's race is that Texas Motor Speedway will award $7,039,782 to the 43 drivers competing, an increase of more than $70,000 compared to last year’s total of $6,969,209. Matt Kenseth leads the points standings with Jimmie Johnson, followed by fan favorites Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, and Kyle Busch.
Jeff Gordon, who won at Martinsville last weekend, used a chairman's selection to get into the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship 48 hours before the opening race. Gordon didn't win a race this year, but with his 8th win at the short Virginia track - he posted his 88th career victory - which sets him at third best all time.
